September 22, 7- 9 PM

Through an innovative collaboration between the UH School of Art and the Creative Writing Program, Mat Johnson’s Graphic Novel course was an introduction and exploration of modern graphic storytelling through both critical examination and workshop of original creative work within the form. With a focus on the medium and tools of graphic storytelling, its recurring themes and genres, and their relationship with modern storytelling, students had an opportunity to work across disciplinary lines in an art form that is establishing itself as an important new genre. The results of this collaboration will be on display for one night only with presentations by Ted Closson, Chuck Ivy, Grant MacManus, Brandon White with Dean Haspiel, Jonathan Niles Gill with Joe Infurnari, and James Roberts with Mike Cavallaro.
