Legendary writer, performer and visual artist Patti Smith will appear at UH for a night filled with literature, memory and rich conversation. Hosted by Voices Breaking Boundaries (VBB) with support from the Mitchell Center, Smith will read from her exciting new memoir Just Kids and perform a few select songs.

Just Kids is a chronicle of friendship in its truest sense, a portrait of two innocents who, in a chance meeting in 1967, become lovers and then friends, and went on to fulfill their mutual dream of becoming great artists.

Presented by Voices Breaking Boundaries (VBB) with support in part from the Mitchell Center and Nina and Michael Zilkha. Co-sponsored by the UH Creative Writing Program, English Department, Women’s Studies Program, and History Department, Brazos Bookstore, Inprint Inc., KPFT Pacifica Radio 90.1 FM, Houston Institute for Culture, Students for a Democratic Society, Free Press Houston and Houston Independent Media Center.
