Coming up in Spring 2018

Horse Dream Horse is a new performance-based work by Los Angeles artist Mateo Tannatt, who is also the 2017-18 Cynthia Woods Mitchell Post-Graduate Fellow in the School of Art. Envisioned as a cross-disciplinary intersection of performance, writing, and sculpture, Horse Dream Horse is loosely based on the film Horse (1964) written by Ronald Tavel and directed by Andy Warhol. Tannatt will stage a live re-enactment of the film incorporating new material made from a collage of found scenes and dialogue taken from classic and contemporary Hollywood Western films. Inspired by the humorous and often absurd theatrical works of the Irish playwright Samuel Beckett, Horse Dream Horse is a playful attempt to present the shared mechanisms of our experience of language, fantasy, and the passing of time.
