Coming up in Spring 2018

Devices for Defense + Protection is a tactile, mobile, participatory, multimedia, performance installation conceived by the interdisciplinary team of Hillerbrand+Magsamen. The work helps us understand, cope, and question the turbulent times in which we find ourselves. By using the metaphor of a hurricane preparedness box, we playfully engage a conversation about how we rely on technological devices, gear, and other “stuff” to protect ourselves and ward off fear-based emotions. As an interactive performance, actors on stage unpack a large “preparedness box” while collaborating with the audience, instructing them how to use the items.

Devices for Defense + Protection presents an immersive interdisciplinary theatrical experience that literally and conceptually unpacks our relationship to everyday objects and how we use them to ease the suffering and pain in our lives.
