TEXTS WRITTEN WHILE PAYING FOR AN EDUCATION offers the public a chance to view final projects by students in the Mitchell Center’s IART class Collaboration Among the Arts. Under the guidance of professors Nick Flynn and Ronnie Yates, three groups of young artists have spent the past three months interacting, questioning, documenting, investigating, exploring, and changing three Houston locations (a museum, a neighborhood, and a bulletin board.) The final pieces center around performance, photography, video projections, installation, and performance documentation and will be on display for one night only. Guest speakers included artist Gabriel Martinez, writer Sehba Sarwar, and musician Dave Dove.
Artists: Kristy Brooks, Joel Carpenter, Gabrielle Greene, Courtney Cole, Erica Hayter, Betsy Huete, Karina Neves, Stephanie Oreliana, Sarah Quinn, Michael Retz, and Jackie Villegas.
