Oil Movies at the Junkyard Drive-In
Co-presented with the Buffalo Bayou Partnership and Aurora Picture Show, this outdoor film screening will take place at CLUI’s field office site and will include films that feature oil as a central plot point. Matt Coolidge of the CLUI will give an artist talk prior to the screening. Films can be viewed from your vehicle and additional outdoor seating will be provided.

Downstream: A Center for Land Use Interpretation Tour of Houston's Water and Oil
An all day tour by boat and bus through the urban waterways, ports, and petrochemical landscape of Houston, led by the Center’s director, Matthew Coolidge. Boat departs from Allen’s Landing at 9:00am, return by bus by 6:00pm (lunch is included).
Co-presented with the Buffalo Bayou Partnership.
$75 per person.

"The Grand Respectacle" with the CLUI and SIMPARCH
Join us at Tony Marron Park for a mutli-media celebration of the intersection of Oil and Houston, including the world premiere and unveiling of the new SIMPARCH project! Refreshments will be available for purchase and wild surprises are guaranteed. Co-presented with the Buffalo Bayou Partnership.

The Grand Respectacle is presented in conjunction with Systems of Sustainability: Art, Innovation, Action (S.O.S).

SIMPARCH is part of the Buffalo Bayou Partnership’s new public art initiative, Confluence: Points of View on Buffalo Bayou, a contemporary art project that initiates the creation of innovative public art and related programming on, along, and within the environs of Houston’s historic waterway, the Buffalo Bayou.

The public art project is a collaboration that builds on the strength and diversity of Houston’s cultural institutions, museums and arts education organizations.

Partners include:  Buffalo Bayou Partnership, Blaffer Gallery, the Art Museum of the University of Houston, Core Residency Program, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston; Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts; Latin Maecenas of the Latin American art department of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; and the Menil Collection.
