The Mitchell Center is proud to announce a bold new project from Artist in Residence Karyn Olivier. Using 13 billboards along the city’s downtown freeways, Olivier will replace the usual advertisements with images of the urban landscape that would be visible if the billboard did not exist - the sky, trees, and buildings obstructed by the ads will now be “revealed.”

Olivier will also work with UH students enrolled in the Mitchell Center’s IART course Mitchell Center Mentorships, taught by artist J. Hill, to produce individual and collaborative projects in the community. Presented in collaboration with the UH Moores School of Music, Creative Capital, DiverseWorks Art Space, and CBS Outdoor.

LOCATION: Houston’s major freeways including Highway 59 (Southwest Freeway), Interstate 10 (in between I-45 and Hwy 59), North Beltway 8 and Loop 610 North.
