Hospital Pudding is a garage band created by Paul Hope, Richard Nix, Moranne Aaron-Berel, and Darrel Holnes, students in the Collaboration Among the Arts course at the University of Houston under the direction of Prof. Mary Magsamen.
The band explores new forms of self expression through the use of modern technology such as the game ROCK BAND for Nintendo Wi. Through this game the band recreates popular moments in rock history by adapting the person of other rock groups and their hits into the group's own persona and style. Hospital Pudding is essential an experiment to see how much of a barrier is the console, or rather technologies like it, between the player and the observer or audience.
Hospital Pudding is playing in several unorthodox venues around Houston and will present their final project in a multimedia presentation at the Lawndale Art Center.
The story behind the band. Bandmembers Evametukah, Urick Sneakers, Howard Johnson, and Tosh officially formed Hospital Pudding in 1993. Ürich met Howard Johnson at a Holiday Inn, where they both enjoyed the cheap rates and great service in Minneapolis when he was out on tour. They started the band Hospital Pudding, originally called "See A Man About a Horse" and then "Ürecha J." After joining Hospital Pudding Ürich and Howard Johnson met Tosh, their new guitar player with mystique brought in by the record label to replace Steamy Pot after his overdose. Tosh's guru Evametukah eventually was offered a position in the band as a means for Tosh to compensate her for unpaid sessions. They now tour the world bringing their brand of punk, ska, classic rock, and flarf to eager listeners. They have been praised overseas and awarded coal and platinum plaques for poor and record breaking album sales. They are currently touring Texas and are sure to soon be an American phenomena. |
