The Mitchell Center and the University of Houston School of Theatre & Dance present Good Woman of Setzuan, Bertolt Brecht's classic tale of three gods who come to earth in search of one good woman whom they find in Shen Te, a prostitute with a heart of gold. This production, directed by Kim Weild, includes a live performance by Houston-based Two Star Symphony, which has been commissioned by the Mitchell Center to create an original score.
New York-based director Kim Weild is currently Associate Director of Michael Blakemore's "Is He Dead?" at Lyceum Theatre, NY. Her recent productions include "Fetes de la Nuit" by Charles Mee (NY premiere), "Paradise Now" (conceived by Weild for Williamstown Theatre Festival), "Uncle Vanya" (official selection: Prague Quadrennial), "Eccentricities of a Nightingale," "Endgame" and "A Peddler's Tale" (Women's Project). Weild is a Kennedy Center Directing Fellow, Shubert Fellow, 2006 Foeller Fellow and David Parsons Chair at LACHSA and member of the Women's Project Director's Lab, 2006-2008. |
