Noted comic writer and graphic artist Scott McCloud will present a public lecture at UH to discuss his critically acclaimed work. McCloud visits the University of Houston in order to participate in the Graphic Novel workshop, a course taught by professor Mat Johnson, offered by Creative Writing Program, in collaboration with the Mitchell Center and the School of Art. The course is an introduction and exploration of modern graphic storytelling through both critical examination and workshop of original creative work within the form. Students and visiting artists focus on the medium and tools of graphic storytelling, its reoccurring themes and genres, and their relationship with modern storytelling.
